Who & When

Thousands of Philadelphians are expected to join Decades Dance Band, the amazing J-Hoops other special guests, and the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter for an afternoon filled with live entertainment and information to support the need to raise awareness about lupus. Entertainment, live music, fitness demonstrations giveaways, information about signs and symptoms, diagnosis and tips to live better with lupus will be available at no charge to everyone.

Why

Although first recognized by medical science in the late 1800s, public understanding of lupus continues to be below that of other life-threatening conditions. Lupus is under-recognized as a global health problem by the public, health professionals and governments, driving the need for greater awareness. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment of lupus can help to slow the debilitating effects of the disease. Improving awareness of lupus symptoms will save lives and pave the way to additional research. There has not been a drug approved by the FDA for Lupus in over 50 years!

Approximately 40,000 in the Philadelphia Tri-State region alone are affected by lupus; mostly women, face an unpredictable future as they struggle daily with the often debilitating health consequences of lupus, a potentially life-threatening autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the body's only healthy tissue.
